Melonia Shoe Success

September 23, 2013

Souzan Youssouf's Melonia shoe was first shown in 2010, perhaps the first example of a shoe made using 3D SLS production methods. At the time it was a true example of the potential of this groundbreaking manufacturing technique when utilised by a designer with a good grasp of rendering applications. Since then the Melonia has remained a consistent bubbler in the eyes of the international press, with this year seeing the shoe garner yet more press. It's on its way to stateside in October as part of MAD's exhibition Out of Hand: Materialising the postdigital.
